Mr. Simon Joyson Galbao, a Ph.D. candidate from the Department of Chemistry, Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal, has been selected for a prestigious UK-funded international research internship at the University of Surrey, United Kingdom.
Under the supervision of Dr. Murthy Dharmapura from dept of Chemistry, Mr. Galbao will collaborate with Prof. Satheesh Krishnamurthy, Director of the Surrey Ion Beam Centre, as part of a highly competitive two-month research program. This prestigious internship is fully funded by the UK National Ion Beam Centre (NIBC), a premier national research facility hosted at the University of Surrey.
His research will focus on the development of functional two-dimensional (2D) materials using plasma jet printing, with the goal of optimizing their properties for applications in optoelectronics and photocatalysis. These breakthroughs could have far-reaching implications in next-generation technologies. The collaboration between MIT Manipal and the University of Surrey marks an important step in strengthening international academic ties, paving the way for future research partnerships in material science and advanced engineering applications.
