Program Description

Master of Computer Applications (MCA) is a two-year post-graduate program designed to meet the industry demand for qualified IT computer professionals working in application development and testing environment. The program is a unique blend of both theoretical and practical knowledge which endows MCA students with an opportunity to work with diverse tools meant to develop better and faster applications.

Focus

The program focuses on ensuring that the students would be able to study, plan, design, develop and maintain domain-specific software applications. The program also imparts domain-specific knowledge in areas such as Internet of Things, computational intelligence, cyber forensics, game programming, and ethical hacking. The core competencies that students of MCA program can build upon would be around Software Engineering and Application development, Data and knowledge discovery, Image Processing, Multimedia Computing and Communication, Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence, and Virtual Reality.

    The Master of Computer Applications (MCA) course duration is 2 years, divided into 4 semesters. The curriculum covers a range of specialised areas, including the Internet of Things (IoT), computational intelligence, ethical hacking, cyber forensics, and game programming.

    Admission to the MCA programme at the Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) is not based on an entrance examination. Therefore, there is no MCA entrance exam syllabus to prepare for. Admission is based on a merit list prepared using marks obtained in the qualifying exam.

    The MCA course subjects list at MIT includes Object Oriented Programming, Computational Mathematics, Database Management System, Web Technologies, Research Methodology and Technical Communication, Data Structures and Algorithms, Operating Systems, Data Analytics, Machine Learning, Computer Networks, and Software Engineering, along with labs, electives, and a final project for practical learning.

    The MIT MCA course fees structure is ₹4.9 lakhs for the complete two-year programme, which includes a refundable caution deposit of ₹10,000 payable in the first year.     To apply for MCA at MIT, candidates must follow these steps.

    - Before applying, make sure you meet the eligibility criteria, including a relevant Bachelor’s degree and minimum 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination.

    - Fill out the online application form with accurate details and submit the eligibility documents.

    - Selection is made on the basis of merit, determined by marks obtained in the qualifying examination.

    - Shortlisted candidates receive a provisional admission notice after the selection process.

    - Candidates must complete all admission formalities within the timeline.

    The MCA admission last date at MIT is May 31, 2026. Applicants must complete the registration process and submit all required documents on or before this date. They should also visit the MAHE website regularly for any updates or revisions to the admission schedule.

    To meet the MCA admission eligibility criteria at MIT, candidates need to fulfil specific academic qualifications and subject requirements:

    - Candidates must hold a BCA, B.Sc. (Computer Science/IT), B.E./B.Tech (CSE), or an equivalent degree.

    - Graduates from B.Sc., B.Com., or B.A. backgrounds with Mathematics at the 10+2 Level or Graduation Level are also eligible.

    - They must have completed bridge courses as per university guidelines.

    - A minimum of 50% aggregate marks is required in the qualifying degree.
