Early Career Researcher (ECR) Award

Mr. Sagar Filipe Wankhede, a Ph.D. Research Scholar from the Dept. of Civil Engineering, Manipal Institute of Technology, MAHE, was recently awarded the Svalbard Integrated Arctic Earth Observing System (SIOS) Early Career Researcher (ECR) award to travel to Svalbard, Arctic, and present his research. He presented his research during the Polar Night Week conference at Longyearbyen, Svalbard. His Ph.D. work in the Arctic is expected to improve his understanding of the melting properties of the glaciers in the context of global warming. He spent one month (Jan 20, 2023, to Feb 20, 2023) in the Arctic, collaborating with scientists belonging to Nordic countries. Mr. Sagar was the only recipient of this travel award from Asia and the first person to travel to the Arctic from the Manipal Academy of Higher Education.
