A Virtual Symposium on ‘Mahatma Gandhi in the 21st Century’ was organized on August 7, 2020 through Microsoft Teams by the SPARC Project Team of Manipal College of Nursing, MAHE and PHESA, Prasanna School of Public Health, MAHE in association with Social Science Research Unit, Institute of Education, University College London, the United Kingdom to mark the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. The Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration (SPARC) which is a program of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India aims at improving the research ecosystem of India’s Higher Educational Institutions by facilitating academic and research collaborations between Indian Institutions and the best institutions in the world to jointly solve problems of national and/or international relevance. During the Virtual Symposium, Dr. Krishna Kothai (Coordinator, Poornaprajna Centre for Research and Development, Udupi) spoke regarding the Significance of Gandhian Economic Thought. Prof. Varadesh Hiregange (Director, Gandhian Centre for Philosophical Arts and Sciences, MAHE, Manipal) spoke regarding World Peace and Gandhian Philosophy. Ms. Abhilasha (Principal, SMS English Medium School, Brahmavar, Udupi) spoke regarding Gandhian Education: Contemporary Concerns.
