Lamp Lighting Ceremony - 2024

The lamp lighting ceremony for the 36th batch of BSc Nursing students at the Manipal College of Nursing (MCON) was held on October 15, 2024, with great enthusiasm and reverence. This significant event, symbolizing the students' formal entry into the nursing profession, was graced by the presence of esteemed guests, faculty members, students, and their families. The program commenced with a warm welcome by Dr. Savitha P., class coordinator, followed by a soulful invocation song led by Ms. Denna and her group, seeking divine blessings for the occasion. The dignitaries, including the Chief Guest, Dr. Thereza Mathias, Professor and HOD at Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing, Mangalore, were invited to the dais. Dr. Judith A. Noronha, Dean of MCON, and other distinguished guests were also present. In her inspiring address, Dr. Mathias emphasized the importance of nursing and the dedication essential for success in the profession.
The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing the students' formal initiation into the nursing profession. The dignitaries, accompanied by the class president, Ms. Kunga Lham, paid tribute to Florence Nightingale by offering floral garlands in her honor, recognizing her as the trailblazer of modern nursing.
